Despite being the leading candidate for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination, Trump has been facing multiple legal problems and attempts to have him removed from the ballot in several states.

Lawsuits against the controversial former president claim that his alleged involvement in the Capitol riot disqualifies him from running under Section 3 of the 14th Amendment. Section 3 states that those who have sworn an oath to the Constitution and engaged in insurrection are barred from holding office.

Two states, Colorado and Maine, have already ruled to remove Trump from the ballot. Both states cite the 14th Amendment and Trump’s connection to the Capitol riot as grounds for his exclusion.

In a post on social media platform X, formerly Twitter, Claudia Conway expressed her admiration for Maine and Colorado, openly sharing her satisfaction with their decisions regarding Trump’s candidacy.

A vocal critic

Despite her mother’s close association with Trump’s political career, Claudia tweeted, “Guys my two favorite states are Maine and Colorado right now buttttt I’m not sure why.” She later deleted the tweet.

Trump is facing federal charges in connection to the riot, along with several other criminal cases. He vehemently denies any involvement in an insurrection and accuses those behind the lawsuits of attempting election interference.

Other charges that Trump is facing include his attempts to overturn the election result in Georgia in 2020, hush-money payments made to an adult film star in 2016, and taking classified national defense documents from the White House after he left office.

At 19 years old, Claudia Conway has emerged as a vocal critic of Trump. Her mother was the manager of Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign and later became a senior advisor. Despite this, Claudia has consistently opposed Trump and his conservative pursuits.

This isn’t the first time that Claudia has voiced her opinion on Trump. She has previously made comments about looking forward to the former president being indicted and has shared her father’s posts on X about celebrating the occasion.

Republican outrage

The decision to remove Trump from the ballot in Maine and Colorado, likely to be followed by other states, has been met with outrage by the GOP frontrunner’s supporters and, surprisingly, fellow Republican candidates.

Time will tell

The Colorado Republican Party has filed an appeal against the decision, meaning the case will now be brought before the Supreme Court. It remains to be seen whether the ruling will be overturned or other states will follow suit in removing Trump from their ballots.
