Kinzinger Hits Out at Christians Who Support Trump – ‘They don’t understand their own religion’

Former politician-turned-political commentator Adam Kinzinger responded to Republican frontrunner Donald Trump’s Christmas message with scathing criticism of him and his Christian supporters. Kinzinger has a history of opposing the former president, drawing ire from GOP colleagues.

Former Republican Illinois Representative Adam Kinzinger slammed former President Trump and said Christians who support him “don’t understand” Christianity.

“I’m going to go out on a NOT limb here: this man is not a Christian,” Kinzinger posted on X in response to Trump’s Christmas post. “If you are a Christian who supports him, you don’t understand your own religion.”

Kinzinger, one of Trump’s most vocal GOP critics, continued his attack, writing: “Trump is weak, meager, smelly, victim-ey, belly-achey, but he ain’t a Christian and he’s not ‘God’s man.’”

The former Illinois representative has found himself isolated from an increasingly Trump-loyal GOP after serving on the House select committee that investigated the Capitol attack. Kinzinger was one of only ten Republicans who voted to impeach the former president for the January 6 attack. Kinzinger did not seek reelection in 2022, and he has since joined CNN as a senior political commentator.

A deranged Christmas message

Kinzinger’s post responded to former President Trump’s unusual Christmas post on his Truth Social platform. “Merry Christmas to all, including Crooked Joe Biden’s ONLY HOPE, Deranged Jack Smith, the out of control Lunatic who just hired outside attorneys, fresh from the SWAMP (unprecedented!), to help him with his poorly executed WITCH HUNT against ‘TRUMP’ and ‘MAGA,’” Trump’s post read.

The former president has repeatedly attacked special counsel Jack Smith, who is prosecuting him over his actions during the 2020 election and the January 6 attack on the Capitol.

Smith’s indictment alleges Trump “attempted to exploit the violence and chaos at the Capitol by calling lawmakers to convince them … to delay the certification” of the 2020 result.

The indictment also alleges that another co-conspirator tried to pressure then-Vice President Mike Pence to “violate the law” by delaying President Joe Biden’s victory. Trump has slammed the indictment as a politically motivated witch hunt.

Merry Christmas, all

“Included also are World Leaders, both good and bad, but none of which are as evil and ‘sick’ as the THUGS we have inside our Country who, with their Open Borders, INFLATION, Afghanistan Surrender, Green New Scam, High Taxes, No Energy Independence, Woke Military, Russia/Ukraine, Israel/Iran, All Electric Car Lunacy, and so much more, are looking to destroy our once great USA. MAY THEY ROT IN HELL. AGAIN, MERRY CHRISTMAS!” Trump concluded.

Kinzinger has made numerous comments critical of Trump and has posted about the former president’s scent in the past. “I’m genuinely surprised how people close to Trump haven’t talked about the odor. It’s truly something to behold. Wear a mask if you can,” a post from December 16 read.

Trump campaign spokesman Steven Cheung responded to Kinzinger’s post, telling Newsweek, “He has disgraced his country and disrespects everyone around him because he is a sad individual who is mad about how his miserable life has turned out.”

The former president remains the GOP’s favorite to win the nomination for the 2024 election by double digits. Recent polling data from Decision Desk HQ puts Trump at a 52.4 percent lead. He is also leading President Biden by 2 points in national election polls.
